All thylacine drawings were based upon archival photographs and films; preserved remains in the collections of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart, and the South Australian Museum in Adelaide; studies and observations of surviving carnivorous marsupials; and pre-1936 eyewitness accounts and descriptions of the thylacine.
