This stunning and graceful creature is an agile hunter of small mammals, ground nesting birds and insects.
The eastern quoll is a member of the carnivorous marsupial family and, like all marsupials, the young are born at a miniscule size and spend the first few months of their lives safe within their mother's pouch.
When the young grow too large for the pouch they can sometimes be seen clinging to their mother's back as she searches for food in the forest, or as she moves in search of a new den for her youngsters.
Eastern quolls occur in two colours - jet-black or fawn, with both colour types clearly marked with striking white spots that cover their bodies but are absent from their tails.
